    Mali Juisi in MulebaMuleba
Most of Muleba's shops are in the centre of town. The merchandise varies from kangas/kitenge, groceries. Of course, there are more specialised shops like the vet shop, liquor store (beer/soda), stationery, car spare parts, pharmacy and mobile phone voucher cards providers.

    There are 3 markets:
The newly constructed market, which functions from Monday to Saturday

The Saturday market that operates on a large, open field. Both these markets have a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables like eggplants, avocado, ginger, peppers, passion fruit, potatoes, carrots, cabbage and egg. Fresh fish, brought from the Lake and live chickens are offered for competitive prices. Also new and second hand clothes (linen/silk!) and material can be purchased. More fancy articles like pasta, wine, newspapers, dishes, soaps, bicycles, condoms, sanitary napkins, Ngao can be found in special shops behind the market.

The food market which operates every day after sunset can be found in the centre and is a busy meeting place in the dark....

    Communication
Internet services are not yet available, but there is a public phone at the Posta and Vodacom and Celtel have mobile phone coverage in the area.

    Kamachumu and Ndolage
Outside the gates of the hospital you can buy basic food stuffs (flour, eggs, sugar, meat, fruit and veg). For a larger variety head to Kamachumu, which has many more shops selling foods as well as stationary, clothes and hardware items. Kamachumu is home to the local post office, tailors, hair dressers, and the usual selection of Tanzanian shops sell a random range of things such as Vedasto shop. Head in to Kamachumu and have a good look around to see what is available. The market on Sunday has a good range of clothes, crafts and food.

    Communication
The hospital is connected to the normal phone system. In Kamachumu there is a Vodacom, Mobitel and Celtel. Neither Ndolage or Kamachumu have internet access. The post office is on the road between Kamachumu and Ndolage, beside two large radio towers.

    RubyaRubya
Nyakalembe is a village adjacent to Rubya and is the home of most of the local shops. Like most Tanzanian shopping centres, the shopper is required to visit every shop to get a real idea of what is available. Basic foods like bread, Blue Band margarine, instant coffee, milk, meat, soda, beer, flour, sugar, rice, tomatoes, onions, occasionally fresh fish and pork as well as many other things are available. There is a stationary shop, two hardware shops, many tailors, basic pharmacies (there is also a Hospital pharmacy), hairdressers and a large number of shops selling pots, pans, buckets, string, bits of rubber and other random things.

The highlight of the shopping week is the Sunday Market in Nyakalembe, a great place to shop and meet friends. Go early. The market has a wide selection of fruit (pineapples, passion fruit, mangoes, papaya) and vegetables (avocados, cabbage, spinach, carrots, peppers, sometimes potatoes), depending on the season, as well as lots of second-hand clothes, crafts, fresh fish and meat, eggs. It is usually good fun and relatively hassle-free.

In Rubya itself, the hospital market sells fruit and vegetables; the parish Hawaka shop sells sugar, flour, rice, loo roll, soda and beer. The Seminary has a shop with a photocopier (50/= TSH per page, cheapest in Rubya), which also sells stationary and Vodacards. The seminary also keeps pigs and occasionally sells pork.

The post office sells basic stationary as well as the standard post office fare.

    Communication
Rubya is served by both Celtel and Vodacom. Rubya Hospital has an internet café which has a satellite internet connection at Tsh 1,000 per hour. Opening Times are 8am-9pm (weekdays) and 4pm-9pm (Weekends).
