HI,
Welcome to the Kagera.org Information Technology forum. This is meant as a place to discuss the various issues associated with computers and technology as it relates to Kagera and Tanzania.
Whether you have advise to offer or questions to ask this is the place for all your kagera technology related information.

Wow we have our own Kagera forum now!
Some days ago it was just an idea of a group of people in Bukoba. We contacted Greg in Canada to help us putting a forum online and within two days he managed to do this! Thank you so much Greg!
I think this Kagera.org Forum has many opportunities for the people within Kagera (but also abroad) to communicate with together and share ideas, information, contacts etc!
The next step will be to choose which subjects we want to discuss on this forum! Any suggestions? |

Thanks Bart,
It was actually pretty easy. I'm also just glad to be able, to be of some help.
Anyway, I've setup a thread where people can discuss some of the various things they wish to see on this message board and kagera.org.
Head on over here to talk about what you want to see on this website

Good idea Greg!
If you want to talk about the forum (this website) itself you go to the other part!
In IT in Kagera you can discuss for example to following subjects:
- How can we stimulate the use of internet and computers in Kagera?
- I want to start an internet cafe in Kagera, can anybody help me?
- I need to buy a computer, can anybody tell me where to buy this in Kagera
- Does anybody know any organisations that send computers to development countries
- I want to organise a workshop about It in Kagera who can help me!
- Does anybody know who can make websites in Kagera?
- Does anybody know how to set up an wireless network?
- Etc |

It is quite uplifting that you have managed to bring this to fruitation.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

Thanks John. Let me just say that the idea was that of Bart and other "IT nerds" in the Kagera region. Bart simply came to me for technical advise and I got things rolling and installed. Bart has really taken things from there. I'm just trying to contribute what I can.
I'm not the Greg who was working at Bukoba University. I have heard of his work though. Perhaps I'll track down his contact information and see if he's interested in participating in our group! Anyway, I'm hoping to start a "get to know you" section tonight or tomorrow, and once I do you can read about my background there, rather than me putting it all down here.

Hi
I'm really happy of the idea. this will let all kagera people share idea pertaining to the development of our region, knowledge, etc.
Lovely topics suggetsted by Crags I highly recommend them.
just a little suggestion.
can't we create a tree for all contributions pertaining to a certain topic. this will make it easy to trace contributions.
kindly regards |

JOHNMABURABO,
I am not sure what you mean. Can you explain your idea a little better? At the moment, we are limited by the abilities of the phpBB2 software.
At the moment I think we are going to try and focus on growing the membership. As things progress we will hopefully try and implement some additions and improvements. I'm hoping that the first one will be to get the board translated into Kiswahili and maybe even Kihaya.
As far as code changes go, I used to know PHP so I could make some improvements, down the road. If others are willing to help we can try and implement whatever changes we think will help people in Kagera and Tanzania communicate better. |

Thanks greg
I actually ment the thread thing, that lets you keep a track of all replys under a given topic as the tree structure. this is like that of newsgroup.
hope you know it
